As an artist I have a continuous and niggling fear that one day all of my ideas and inspiration for new subjects to paint will, quite literally, dry up.  I have agonised over how to keep the flow going and even took to updating a notebook every time I had a ‘flash’.

I’ve come to realise that motivation and concepts will simply come when they are required.  I need only trawl a fabric warehouse and pore over pretty florals or visit a stationer and discover a new paper design and a million colour plans and designs spring into my mind.

This is the key to creating original contemporary work.  Abstract work requires so much thought and creativity and that why I simple LOVE the medium I have chosen – mixed media.  I’m not replicating something that someone else caught on a photograph, I’m not projecting an image onto a wall and pencilling around the lines…I’m actually creating something entirely original and man…it is so satisfying.
