‘Celebration’ is the new theme I have been exploring in my work of recent weeks. It’s all quite uplifting and I’m enjoying using a very warm and rich colour palette.
There are a myriad of thoughts and feelings around the term celebration. It spans all ages and occasions and I often find myself reminiscing my own celebratory milestones while I work.
I’ve changed the shapes that I work with too. This involves the introduction of a few more sharp angles yet with a few fluid touches thrown in here and there. Gone, in part, are my circles dripping off the canvas. For now anyway. I’m sure they will make a comeback once I’ve got this new technique feeling right and am ready to evolve it.
My canvas size has shrunk a little while I get this all sorted out in my head and before I am brave enough to go ‘big’ again.
I’m enjoying agonising over colours and brush strokes. I haven’t been here for a while and I quite like it.
I’m setting 2012 up to herald a new direction in my artwork. I’m going to celebrate my own personal success in 2011 (‘cos it’s been a cracker year for me) and will welcome the new year with a sense of excitement and hope for another satisfying year at the easel.
