A watched kettle never boils – this was me yesterday…..in my case I was literally watching paint dry – well ….wishing the paint would dry.
I’ve left my run very late with an upcoming show that I am exhibiting in. The NZ Art Show is receiving all general exhibitors work this weekend. Fortunately for me this is a two day kind of deal. Usually I’d be the one who is there waiting for the doors to open first thing on a Saturday morning – not this time. My lead up to this event has been a little messy – too much going on at work impacting on my painting time in the evenings, unwell kiddies, unwell me and whatever else – oh yeah – and a couple of other exhibitions with deadlines falling around this weekend.
So yesterday I wore a track between my kitchen and dining room (which is my make-shift studio) to check on the drying of my final coat of varnish on my three works. Ahhh – so frustrating. The outdoor temperature was about 9 degrees and there was no sunshine making it’s way into the somewhat frosty room – only one thing for it…..I cranked the central heating and a stand alone fan heater and had them belting out warm air for about 10 hours.
Mission accomplished although I am putting off bubble wrapping and final transportation to the drop off point til the very last opportunity today.
I do have a very scary image in my mind of the bubble wrap being removed by the show staff and it ripping off a still partly damp section from the canvas….I need to keep my fingers and toes crossed that this doesn’t happen.
